The venue of the FIFA World Cup 2014 final between Germany and Argentinia was the Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, which was extensively remodeled for the World Tournament. Built in 1950 for the first FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro underwent its biggest reconstruction ever to become the flagship stadium of the World Cup 2014 and the host of the final.
